CAIRNGORMS NATIONAL PARK
LOCHS AND LAKEs
The Cairngorms National Park is where countryside
and nature come together. Here, find impressive and
untouched Scottish beauty. Twice the size of the Lake
District, the Cairngorms National Park is home to
tranquil lochs, challenging Munros, beautiful castles and
historic events - it’s no surprise that it is the largest
National Park in the UK. The park is even bigger than
the whole of Luxembourg! There are plenty of walks
that will allow you to explore the valleys of the
Cairngorms.
Aberdeenshire is home to some impressive lochs.
From glorious summer sunsets to crisp frosty views
in winter, our lochs promise year-round photo stops.
Arguably the region’s most famous loch is found on
the Balmoral Estate in Royal Deeside. With its
picturesque surroundings. Take the route over to
Loch Muick where you’ll be amazed by countryside
views along with the herds of red deer that gather for
water and the protected capercaillie that can be found
in their natural habitat.

coastal walking
The Banffshire coast is one of the world’s
“outstanding coastlines” according to National
Geographic. Not just for its natural beauty with
plentiful dolphins, seals, puffins and other seabirds in
abundance, but for its “strong community feeling”.

CYCLING
Cycling is a great way to explore Aberdeenshire’s
diverse countryside and experience its stunning scenery
up-close. With the weather warming up, now is the
perfect time to discover the region’s network of bike
paths. Some of the most exciting cycling routes to try in
Aberdeenshire include Braemar to Glen Clunie, and The
Formartine and Buchan Way.
Bullers of Buchan refers to a collapsed sea cave
situated about 6 miles south of Peterhead in Buchan
WINTER SPORTS
NATURE & WILDLIFE
Royal Deeside, where Aberdeenshire meets the
Cairngorms National Park, is a hot spot for winter
sports enthusiasts. Each year, thousands of devotees
head to the imposing mountains to experience skiing and
snowboarding at our two purpose built ski centres.
The Lecht 2090, found at 2090 feet above sea level has
12 lifts and all equipment and clothing can be hired on
the day.
The dramatic cliffs at the Bullers of Buchan are where
many have been lucky enough to get that little bit closer
to Aberdeenshire’s puffins, amongst many other species
of seabird found along the coast. A great way to get up,
close and personal with the wildlife along the
Aberdeenshire coast is by taking a guided boat trip –
perfect for spotting dolphins puffins and much more!
